How to Handle a
Propane Emergency
Your safety is our priority. If you smell gas, act quickly to protect yourself and your family.
- Leave your house immediately.
- Do not turn on electrical appliances, and avoid ignition sources such as candles, cigarettes or open flames.
- Close the propane shutoff valve only if it is safe to do so, and make sure all adults in your household know how.
- Once you are at a safe distance, immediately call 911 and Pico Propane and Fuels.
- Wait for emergency personnel and a qualified propane technician to confirm it is safe to return. Never attempt to restart your propane supply on your own. Always rely on trained professionals to inspect and repair your equipment when necessary.
