Pico Propane makes getting propane for your home easy.
Most of our customers speak of how much they love our Keep-Full automatic propane delivery because it removes worries about running low on—or running out of—propane. We utilize your prior propane usage and factor it alongside the current weather conditions to accurately predict when you’ll need a propane tank fill-up, and promptly schedule a delivery to your home.
If you want even more precise control of your propane supply, we also offer wireless propane tank monitoring! We’ll fill you in on how it works.
The monitor itself is a small remote piece that is installed directly on your propane tank. It uses both wireless and cellular technology to let us track your propane usage 24/7—giving us the full picture on just how much fuel is in your tank at any given time. Once your propane tank levels reach a fixed amount, the monitor sends a signal to us. When we get that signal, we know you need a propane refill and get it to you before you run low.
You will also know exactly how much propane you have, any time of day or night, with a convenient smartphone app! Just tap the icon on your smartphone and you’ll see the exact percentage your tank is at, the date of your last delivery—and more! You can also get push notifications when you need a delivery too.
There are several reasons why investing in a wireless tank monitoring is such a great choice! They include:
Whatever the reason, installing and using wireless propane tank monitoring gives you peace of mind that your home will always have the propane it needs. Another benefit of wireless tank monitoring is that you’ll receive the benefit of priority delivery!

Many people immediately associate propane cylinder with grills. And—let’s face it—propane is great for grilling. It’s fast, easy, convenient, and involves a lot less work and mess than using charcoal counterparts.
But propane cylinders can do so much more than that! Folks within our Pico Propane service area, from East Texas to Central New Mexico, use propane cylinders in a variety of sizes and a variety of ways:
No matter how you choose to utilize your propane cylinders, you’re going to eventually need more propane. And that brings up a question: Should you refill your propane cylinder or exchange it for a full one?
The good news is you can do EITHER one at our 10 propane refill stations and bottle docks! But if you’re not sure which way you should go, we have some information to help you easier decide.
Do you own your propane cylinder? Choosing to refill it once it empties can save you a good bit of money over time.
The cost of the propane can be much lower when you refill compared with exchanging. How much lower? Try up to $1.75 a gallon! If you use your propane cylinder frequently—or have multiple cylinders—that can lead to some big savings.
You also further save by paying only for the propane you use. Think about when you see your propane cylinder is running low—for example, low enough where you don’t have enough to grill a meal. If you use a propane cylinder exchange, you’re charged for propane left in the tank when you take it to be exchanged.
When you refill your propane tank, you keep that propane and only have to buy propane to fill the rest of your cylinder. You could, over time, prevent you from “throwing away” enough gas to fill a whole new cylinder in itself!
Additionally, if your propane cylinder is more than 12 years old, we can inspect and recertify it so it can continue to be refilled. Should we deem it to be in poor condition, we can swap it for a full—safe—new cylinder.
When you need a full propane cylinder, you don’t want to be driving around further than you have to looking for a refill station, so finding cylinder exchanges at your local gas stations and convenience stores tends to be easier.
The tanks here are assured to be regularly inspected, so you’ll know that the tank you pick up has a lot of life left and has been checked for any issues prior to your intended usage. However, what you gain in convenience may hurt your wallet—as the average price per gallon tends to be $5-6 vs. $3-4 per gallon when you refill your existing tank.

Have you ever come home after a propane delivery, checked your tank, and seen that it’s only 80% full? You may initially think to yourself “they didn’t even fill it up all the way! What gives?!” We assure you—this is not a mistake or an accident.
This is purposefully done not only by Pico Propane’s dependable delivery drivers—but by all propane companies and their respective teams as well. It is for your safety—and the safety of your home.
To understand it, you need to understand the science of propane.
The propane (chemical formula C3H8) in your tank is stored as a liquid. The liquid changes to gas before it leaves the tank. Hence why it’s technically called liquid petroleum gas (LPG).
Like any liquid, propane will expand when its temperature rises. The difference with propane is that it expands a lot—and quickly too! Propane’s volume increases nearly 17 times the volume of water over the same temperature increase.
That expansion is why your delivery driver needs to leave extra space in your tank. Your propane needs room to safely expand. Aboveground propane tanks are typically filled to about 80% capacity. Underground tanks can be filled slightly higher because they are insulated against the heat.
That extra space in the tank provides a cushion against the pressure that builds up inside the tank. For example, a 500-gallon tank filled to 80% will safely hold 400 gallons of propane.
This safety practice is especially important in hot weather. That is when liquid propane will expand the most. The amount of gas in your propane tank does not change during periods of expansion and contraction, only its density changes.
If you notice that the tank gauge reading fluctuates slightly during quick temperature swings like hot days with cool nights, that’s actually perfectly normal!
Propane gas expansion is why you should also NEVER paint your outdoor propane tank a dark color. Dark colors absorb more heat and could cause the propane in your tank to expand to dangerous levels.
No matter what your tank gauge currently reads—you have to have a propane delivery company that you know will be there for you when you need them most. And guess what? Pico Propane & Fuels is that company!
With Pico’s Keep-Full automatic propane delivery, we’ll use your propane usage history and current weather to schedule a delivery to your home before you run low. If you want even more peace of mind, we also offer wireless propane tank monitoring so you can see with our app any time of day or night just how much propane is in your tank. We also see this information, so we can be even more accurate in scheduling your propane deliveries.
From Central New Mexico through South Texas and into the Gulf Coast, Pico Propane & Fuels gives customers the safe, reliable propane delivery they depend on. Become a customer today and experience the difference we can make for your home or business!
From New Mexico to Louisiana, our customers know that Pico Propane and Fuels is the leader in reliable propane delivery.
If you’re still using Will-Call delivery (where you check how much propane is in your tank and contact us to request a delivery) it’s your responsibility to regularly check your propane tank gauge levels. In case you’re new to propane game—or just not familiar— here’s how you read you do exactly that:
Go out to your propane tank and look for the round dial on it that looks like a speedometer. That’s the tank gauge. The numbers on the dial indicate the percentage of how full your propane tank is. If the needle is on 40, your propane tank is 40% full.
We strongly urge our Will-Call customers to not allow their tank gauge levels to fall below 30% full before requesting a delivery. That gives us time to schedule your delivery before you run low or, worse, run out.
What happens when you run out of propane? Added hassle and expense.
If you go outside and check your propane tank gauge and see that you’re out of propane, the very first thing to do is call Pico Propane at 844-427-7426.
DO NOT email us or contact us online. Talk to us and we’ll get an emergency propane delivery to you as soon as possible.
But getting an emergency propane delivery is just the beginning of what needs to be done. You can’t just turn all your propane appliances back on. A complete safety inspection of your propane system performed by a professional service technician is required. That safety inspection includes a leak test, a pressure test, an inspection of your propane tank and propane appliances, and a professional re-lighting of all the propane appliance pilots.
Reminder: You are responsible for paying for the emergency delivery and the safety inspection.
With Keep-Full automatic delivery, you no longer have to worry about checking your propane tank gauge levels—ever! We do the work for you. We use your prior propane usage and factor in the current weather conditions to accurately know when you’ll need more propane and schedule a delivery, so you won’t have to worry about a propane runout.
Keep-Full is a FREE service! With Keep-Full we can customize our delivery routes and schedule to efficiently and courteously serve as many customers as possible.
Want even more peace of mind? Ask us about wireless propane tank monitoring. It keeps us informed 24/7 about exactly how much propane is in your tank. You’ll also know all the same info we do with our easy-to-use app!

Pico Propane—We’re Texas & Southeastern New Mexico’s Premier Propane Delivery, Fuel & System Services Provider!

Whatever the time of year, we can get some wicked weather here in south Texas, southeastern New Mexico and Louisiana’s Gulf Coast region.
Pico Propane & Fuels is committed to making sure our customers know about propane safety, including what to do in bad weather to take care of your loved ones and your home.
With this guide, you can be prepared before, during and after any storm that passes through.
Pay attention to any propane leaks. You’ll know a propane leak by the rotten-egg smell of propane gas. Small propane leaks can be made worse, and more dangerous, in storms.
Be informed and ready. Every adult in your home must know how to shut off the gas main at your propane tank. You have to do this in the event that you evacuate your home. Shutting off the gas main prevents damaged tanks from creating dangerous leaks that could ignite.
Be calm and careful. If you’re at home when a storm arrives, stay indoors and keep away from power lines and conductive metal objects like the propane tank. If you’re outdoors, keep away from trees, poles, or other tall and conductive objects or structures. And wherever you are, be alert for information and instructions from local authorities on possible evacuations and other issues.
Take a good look around. When it is safe to do so, go outside, but be aware of your surroundings at all times and be careful where you walk. Look for downed trees, tree limbs and power lines. All of these can damage your propane tank or gas line, and can be dangerous in other ways.
Carefully check your propane appliances. Inspect them closely, looking for damage or malfunctions. DO NOT use candles when checking any propane equipment, as lit candles can ignite propane if there’s a leak.
See a problem? Contact us! If you suspect that your propane tank or gas line is damaged, contact Pico Propane & Fuels RIGHT AWAY so that we can check it out. And if you smell gas, follow propane safety best practices IMMEDIATELY.
