New to the area? Bergheim has a long, rich history dating to its settlement in the late 19th century, largely by German immigrants. Bergheim’s German roots are nurtured and celebrated with the annual Oktoberfest in neighboring Boerne.

- Bergheim means “Mountain Home” in German, and its name was given by Andreas Engel, an Austrian immigrant who settled there in the late 19th century and established a general store which remained in the Engel family until 2018. The store later became a butcher shop.
- Major industries over the years have included ranching, along with harvesting of cedar lumber.
- You can enjoy live music at the Roundup Outdoor Music Venue or spend some time tubing, kayaking, or canoeing on the Guadalupe River.
